
He was born in 1916 in Decatur, IN.
Dick was the youngest of eight children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sarah Viola; his seven siblings; his first wife Edith Kirby; his second wife Augusta Wagner; and the “queen of his heart” Marcella Hurry.
Richard will be dearly missed by his daughter Cheryl Ronald Sr. Ricketson; grandsons, Dale Rita, and Chris Vicki Langerhorst; granddaughter Kimberly Larry Grutter; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild soon to be born.
He is also survived by a few nieces and a nephew.
Richard served on the battle ship USS Alabama during WWII and was present at the signing of Japan’s surrender in Tokyo Bay, Japan.
Dick has been retired from Blackmer Pump for 25 years.
He was a sweet, caring man who enjoyed his friends and family, and was a joy to be with.
His second love was flowers.
Honoring Richard’s wishes no public viewing or visitation will be held, however, military honors will take place on Friday 1 p.m. at the Cook Byron Center Chapel 2067 84th Street SW.
Memorial contributions in Dick’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
