My family had the pleasure of living next to Mr. Larson for the past few years in Greenville SC and he was such a joy. Always a kind word for our children and was a wonderful man. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Our love to the family, esp to Faith who we knew personally. 
My husband Phil and I loved stopping by to visit Mr Larson in his later years. He was great at story telling and good  humored. We shared his love for Christ and the fellowship was sweet.  We will miss those visits. ❤️

Since Deloris Miller's daughter posted, I had to get my book out that my kindergarteners made in 1977! Memories! Enjoy seeing Mr. Larson in his "element!"  Surrounded by children! Oh how he loved children!

Well done, good and faithful servant... What a kind and gentle man. He was my Mom's (Dolores Miller) boss at Weymouth school, I believe, and she absolutely loved working for him.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

I first met Mr. Larson when I was 8 and my family had moved to Charlotte.  I was VERY shy and a new city, new school, new teacher, new kids was extremely stressful!!!  I started at the old Grammar School and then they opened Weymouth Elementary.  Dick was the principal at both places.  He was soft spoken, calm and usually smiling which helped my transition more than he could ever know.  Later I taught 2nd grade at Weymouth and I was thrilled that Dick was still there and that he remembered me😁.  One day we were talking and I referred to him as my “boss”.  He quickly, but kindly said he was not my boss, but my coworker.  He was right…EVERYONE on ANY staff is a valuable and necessary part of the team.  I never forgot that!
It was my honor and pleasure to have worked with him, learned from him and known him🌷

In 1977 Mr. Larson hired me as a teacher at Weymouth Elementary School in Charlotte, MI. My five years as a teacher were extremely encouraging with him as the principal! During that time I got married and then Van & I began our family. Mr. Larson said I could come back to teaching in a couple of years. I told him that I was now going to be a stay-at-home mom.  At that time I didn't know we would end up with 6 children and then homeschool over the next 24 years. During all those years I remained in touch with Mr. Larson.  Our family grew and he and Mrs. Larson came to our oldest's graduation party. Many more years passed and we would talk about many things that we were involved with: home schooling conventions, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and our love for Jesus. Mr. Larson was an encouraging, godly man who kept trusting Jesus with every step of his life.  We'd talk about our hope of heaven and as he is now greatly missed, that hope grows stronger and stronger!
Trusting that Jesus is holding Mr. Larson saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
Trusting also that Jesus is holding each of you, his family and dear friends, and comforting your hearts as you miss him!

We have appreciated a long friendship with Mr Larson and his daughter, Faith. They are both part of my Elder Group at FFPC. Mr Larson dealt with health issues for several years and he had a godly testimony and a positive response knowing that God was in control and would never leave him. 

We are praying for Faith and the entire family. He is now “…present with the Lord,” and experiencing “fullness of joy.”
