Richard D. Newman

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Beverly Sorensen Newman.

Richard was a father of four, Connie Craig Anderson, Richard Jody Newman, Jr., Jennie Newman special friend, David Hebert, and Ted Vicki Newman. He had nine grandchildren, Krista and Erik Anderson, Heather Mark Auterson, Casey, Cory and Codi Newman, Jamie Duncan, Sarah and Nick Newman.

Richard was an outdoorsman who loved to camp, fish and hunt with his family. He spent his early years as a member of the 187th Airborne Division of the Army during the Korean Conflict. During his later years he spent many happy hours at the Grandville Senior Neighbors Club playing cards. Richard is survived by his sister, Vondalee Wohlford, his brothes-in-law, Adrian Mary Potter, Jim Wohlford, Bill Sandy Potter, and Bob Evelyn Potter; sisters-in-law, Glenna Rob Swofford, Carol Rick Essebaggers, Dorothy Newman, and Lisa Potter.

The funeral service will be held 1p.m. Monday at the Byron Center Chapel of Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Haney officiating. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home 2067 – 84th SW, Byron Center.
