Richard "Rick" Sullivan

SULLIVAN Richard "Rick" Forrest Sullivan, age 55, of Grand Rapids, MI was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family and one of his closest friends. He was born January 24, 1958 in Selena, KS and was the son of the James Michael and Shirley Irene (Sytsma) Sullivan. Rick was first and foremost a family man, a loving husband and devoted father. The close bond he maintained with his family and friends over the course of his lifetime was truly awe-inspiring. Rick had many passions in life. Some of them being the sport of Boxing in which he was a Golden Gloves boxer, classic cars including his father's Cadillac and most of all his Harley Davidson. He will be remembered for his everlasting sense of humor, his love of music (especially Elvis) and his unwavering kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Sullivan. Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan Kay Sullivan; his children, James Richard (Megan) Sullivan, Nicholas Reade Sullivan, Dylan James Sullivan; his first grandchild is "on the way," his mother, Shirley Sullivan; his siblings, Michael Sullivan, Deb (Tom) Moore; his friends, Mike Mansel and Jim Crouch - they were "thick as thieves." Rick was very close with his extended family and they will miss him very much.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Richard's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building). Rev. Wesley Dupin will be officiating. In honor of Rick, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Lack's Cancer Center at St. Mary's.
