Robert L. Clemons

Robert L. Clemons, age 83 went to be with his Lord, Saturday, June 23, 2012. Born October 16, 1928 in Bellevue, Ohio, Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Shirlene; daughter and son-in-law Peter and Mary VanFleet; and son, Greg, as well as a sister Lucille Folk of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves behind his dearly loved grandchildren, Alex Clemons; Brian and wife Samantha VanFleet; and Michelle VanFleet.

Bob served in the U.S. Army in Korea and then graduated from Ohio University. He briefly taught and coached high school and then began a career spanning more than three decades as both a pharmaceutical sales representative for Wyeth Laboratories (Pfizer) in Warren, Ohio followed by a transfer to Grand Rapids in 1963 where he served as district manager covering a large area of the Lower Peninsula until his retirement. In his younger years he loved playing handball but, his real passion was following all professional sports. In his later years he loved his many "mall walkera?? friends at Rogers Plaza, which was as much of a social club as an exercise group. Those who may wish to make a memorial donation may choose to donate to Bob's church, Byron Center United Methodist Church, or to a charity of their choice.

Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Byron Center United Methodist Church 2490 Prescott, Byron Center, MI 49315 with Pastor Larry Nichols officiating.
