Robert Roos

He is survived by his wife Marie; children Robert Roos, Rodney (Brenda) Roos and Anne (John) Potyraj; grandchildren Robert Roos, Jillian Roos, Todd Jonckheere, Genevieve Pollok, Steve Gunderson, Josh Potyraj, Alyssa Potyraj and Lauren Potyraj.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur and mother Ruth, his sister Joan (Art) Hielkema and his grandson Douglas Ryan. Bob has one surviving sister Louise (Richard) Hermanent of Williamson, New York.

Bob grew up in Holland, MI, German Valley, IL and South Dakota. He attended Hope College and held the school record for the mile for many years. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Bob and Marie celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 17, 2015. They lived in Grandville and were members of Grandville First Reformed Church for 57 years. His teaching career spanned over 30 years, and he touched many lives during his time teaching science and coaching cross country and track at Rogers High School. Bob enjoyed golf, reading, photography, time at Lake Michigan, and volunteering both at Habitat for Humanity and in local schools.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods who worked diligently making him comfortable during the last month of his life.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5 at Grandville First Reformed Church, 3060 Wilson Avenue, with the Rev. Bud Pratt officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 4th at the Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St., SW, and at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
