Robert “Bob” P. Yettah, age 75, of Jackson, MI, peacefully passed away the morning of November 29, 2021. He was born November 9, 1946 and was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Betty Yettaw; brother-in-law and sister Doug and Shirley Choate; mother- and father-in-law Gerry Dykstra and Leonard VanderLinde Jr.; and his “favorite” youngest niece, Kate Palermo. He is survived by his brother, James Yettaw, of Tennessee.
Bob had many different jobs after high school in Jackson, MI. He removed furnaces, drove truck, made cottage cheese, was a flag boy at Brooklyn Raceway, and worked at Robert Lake Brick Company until he had an accident with a Hi-Lo (funny story). The one job he made into a 30-year career was as a photographer in Jackson and Grand Rapids, MI. His photography included weddings, portraits, school team sports and individual pictures, and little league pictures for baseball, soccer, and football.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife of 40 years, Nancy VanderLinde Yettah; many nieces Rebecca VanderLinde, Maddie Palermo, Susie Hochstattler, Cheryl Miller, Linda Ladwig; nephews Steve Yettaw, Jeff Yettaw, Sean VanderLinde, Joel VanderLinde; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Karen VanderLinde and Tom Shaffer, Joan VanderLinde and Jim Palermo, and Len VanderLinde.
Bob loved being “Uncle Bob” to his many nieces and nephews. He could always bring excitement into a room and make everyone laugh. Bob shared his love with them by being understanding, supportive, and a safe haven for them. He showed his love through actions, experiences, and by being a “prayer warrior” for others.
Bob faced many health problems over the past 25 years with Nancy by his side. He showed courage, perseverance, an unbreakable spirit, and humor through it all. Bob had a very strong faith in God and Jesus Christ, his Savior. He expressed his faith in a website he created called Deathstruth.com. His hope was to make a difference in just one person’s life who was facing significant emotional and physical difficulties.
His family would like to thank his doctor, Dr. Bryan Hull, from Mercy Health for 25 years of excellent medical care. His family is grateful for his care from Maureen Russell, and the Faith Hospice in-home team and from the Trillium Woods team of caregivers.
A memorial for Bob will take place at Hagar Park, 8212 28th Ave., Jenison, Michigan on July 27, 2022. Visitation with his family will be held from 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Maple Shelter. A memorial service will follow the visitation at noon, officiated by Reverend Caleb Wallcott. A picnic lunch will be served after the memorial service. Dress is casual, and guests may bring a lawn chair for their comfort. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (lls.org), or Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Illinois.
