OBITUARY

Ronald Ray Burkholder

July 17, 1949November 18, 2021

Ronald Ray Burkholder, age 72, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 18, 2021, after a short battle with Covid-19. Ron had his bride by his side, holding his hand and telling him it was ok to be with Jesus and how he was loved by so many. If you knew Ron, he loved you unconditionally, with his whole heart and no one was a stranger. We all are better to have been blessed with his beautiful spirit; we love you, Ron, and you will forever be missed.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Burkholder. He will be remembered by his wife, Pam Burkholder; children Brent and Mary Burkholder, John Burkholder, Paul and Amy Nederveld; grandchildren Ashley and Gavin Anderson, Silver Burkholder, Cash Burkholder, Henry Nederveld, Sammy Nederveld, Edward Nederveld; great-grandchild, Zoe Anderson; father, David Burkholder; siblings Jim and Grace Burkholder; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Visitation with relatives and friends will take place one hour prior to service. When in attendance, we kindly ask that all guests wear a face covering and practice social distancing for their safety and well-being of the family. Pam and family, it seems like we’ve known you forever., since our Wyoming Wesleyan days. It has been great to know we will be seeing Ron again in heaven. I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who could throw a softball from anywhere on the field to first base. The softball years were so much fun. The fact that Matthew and Brent were such good buddies and Brent could be best man at Matthew’s wedding says a lot for their friendship and the way Brent was raised. We will miss Ron and will be praying for Pam and family.

To the family,
Ron and Pam have been friends for most of my life. Ron became a dear friend when I was near the end of my teen years. He always invited me to church. He would often ask, How are you doing? He trusted me too. I watched his children while Pam and he were gone for a week. I was only 20. He welcomed me and my bride as a part of his clan. Ron demonstrated a Godly home, and marriage always. Yes, Pam was boisterous, promiscuous, and always pushing the envelope what she would say, and do. He was always calm, even under fire. When I think about men that influenced my life Ron was on of them. Ron never stopped being himself. Recently he asked when we could get together. He had just sent me some jokes on FB. Thanks Pam and family for sharing him with us.

Pam, our hearts break for you and your family. We will always treasure our memories of Ron. It's hard to believe he's gone in physical form but his love and kindness will live on. We can just imagine him in heaven joking around and singing karaoke with the angels. We are blessed with the memories that will be with us forever. May God bless and comfort you and your family.

In the last decade I have used facebook to invite 1968 school friends to gather at restaurants. Ron fully supported this and often let me know it was time for another one.

Pam and family sending prayers and hugs ❤️ I had the privilege of getting to know Ron and Pam as neighbors. Truly will miss my chats with Ron. It didn't matter what time of the day or evening if Ron was on his deck grilling he would say hello and show his big huge smile. Both Ron and Pam make you feel like you've known them forever. Pam always here if you need an ear we can always talk over a nice glass of wine. So many good memories to chat about. God comfort and give peace to Ron's loved ones as they journey forward until they see each other again. God bless.

Oh how hard it is to come to grips that you are gone. We loved you Ron and will forever cherish the times God gave us with you, Pam and our “Perfect Ten” group. We all knew one day we would say an earthly goodbye but we didn’t know it would be so soon.

Thank you brother for your encouragement, love, singing and laughter you gave to so many while here on earth. We miss you so much already and will never forget you. We were so blessed that God allowed us to have you and your precious wife as some of our besties.

You will always have a piece of our hearts. Miss you so much. Until we see you again enjoy our Jesus and loved ones. Please say hi to our Kayla girl. We will forever love you.

I spent so many hours at your home when I was growing up. Your house was always full of laughter, fun, and love. Losing Ron leaves a huge hole in your family, and I am so sorry.
