

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Nagel, and his loving wife and best friend, Susan Elizabeth Nagel.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Russ (Jennifer) Nagel, Jeff (Cathy) Nagel, and Steve (Stephanie) Nagel; six grandchildren Jamie and Jessie, Crystal (Charles) and Sarah, Samantha and Ethan; great-granddaughter Scarlet; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn (David) Gluntz.
Russell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a well-respected businessman, who traveled the world and was the recipient of the Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award in 1985. Russell and Susan were strong supporters of charities, especially the many years working with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Michigan. After their retirement, they split time between Florida and boating on Lake Michigan.
Visitation with relatives and friends will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, with a Vigil service beginning at 7:45 p.m., at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St, Byron Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, with visitation one hour prior, at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave SW, Byron Center.
In memory of Russell and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Michigan or Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.
