Shirley Arlene Croff

Shirley Arlene Croff, age 90 of Hastings, Michigan, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Thornapple Manor, Hastings, Michigan. Shirley was born June 23, 1933 in rural Harrison, Michigan, the daughter of Ellsworth Miller and Esta (Price) Miller. Shirley was married to Basil Hicks on September 24, 1955 in Harrison, Michigan. They shared three children together: Cinda, Linda, Jeffery Hicks. Then Shirley married Francis Croff on November 12, 1966. They shared one child together, DesireeAnn Croff. Shirley also shared with Francis five stepchildren: Dean, Penny, Nancy, Greg, Kim Croff.

Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. She dearly enjoyed gardening and planting all varieties of flowers and had a good green thumb doing so. She also enjoyed a good game of cards. This was her favorite pastime with family and friends. Shirley was given a nickname of Sam from her siblings; it was short for Shirley Arlene Miller. Shirley was a dedicated servant of Jehovah, as one of Jehovah Witnesses, helping people to learn about the Good News of God’s Kingdom.

Surviving Mrs. Croff are her children Linda McKenzie (Bill) of Marion, Michigan, Jeffery Hicks (Latricia) of Wayland, Michigan, DesireeAnn Millan of Andrews, Texas. She is also survived by stepchildren Penny Rowley, Nancy Misner, Kim Shaffer; grandchildren Jason Wolbers, Niki Stilson, Jessie Selby, Jeffrey Lucas Hicks, Gared Hicks, Collin Hicks, Ashley Salgado, Natalie Gamez, Tiffaney Millan, Skylar Wolbers, Seth Wolbers; many great-grandchildren; two brothers Larry Miller (Martha) of Gladwin, Michigan, George Miller (Kathy) of Clare, Michigan; one sister, Carol Beggs of Swartz Creek, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Ellsworth and Esta Miller; her husbands Basil Hicks and Francis Croff; three sisters Mildred, Dorothy, and Elizabeth; six brothers William, John, Richard, Paul, Ervin, and James; one daughter, Cinda Hicks; two stepchildren Dean and Greg Croff.
