I want to thank all of you who took the time to share a memory of Steve, to express your sympathy to us and to express your own sadness at his passing away.  Many of your notes brought tears to my eyes, but I think they may be tears of healing.  It is comforting to know that Steve's laughter, friendliness, concern and compassion made a difference to those who knew him.  May God in HIs mercy, grant peace, hope and comfort to each one of us.

I am so incredibly shocked on hearing about Steves passing. I only met him a little over a year ago when he and Diane would come into Lake Shore Antiques. Always smiling and ready for a laugh! We talked about cars,  why some things sell better than others and, if Steve happened to be by himself,  he would let me know where Diane was and why she couldn’t make it. Steve always asked about my husband and how he was doing. Such a kind man. 
My sincerest condolences to Diane and family. 
P.S. Don’t eat all the Lemon heads in heaven, save some for the rest of us when we see you again!❤️

My heart is filled with sorrow and also good memories of Steve.
After tipping over in a canoe and loosing his glasses we had to go home on a harley and follow my brothers tail lights all the way home. 
Also steve was best man for my brother and I was maid of honor, so we had Steve and Vicki getting married and Steve and Vickey standing up for them. I will always remember steve as having a good sense of humor and a kind soul. You will be missed

There are just no words that adequately express my deep sense of loss when I learned the sad news that we have lost Steve. From the first time I met him, to every encounter after, he was kind, funny, caring, and sincere in everything he ever did or said. Lake Shore will never be the same without him.  He was so supportive in everything we did, and always the first to go out of his way to say a kind word every time he would visit. We will miss him so.  

Dianne, so very sorry to hear of Steve's home going. Heavens gain. He will be missed by all of us at the Ivanrest Hardware. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so very sorry, Dianne and family. Steve was a true gem in this world and one of my favorite people.  He had a way of brightening someone's day with his smile and easy banter. Whenever Steve and Dianne walked through the door together, it was a bright spot in my day.  Steve was always kind and generous, easy to talk with and willing to lend an ear - always asked with sincerity not only how you were but also how your family was. I really enjoyed his voice and twinkle in his eye as he joked or told a story.  He was such a genuine, sweet and humble soul. I pray fond memories and the loving care of friends and family will bring comfort in the days and months ahead.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your brother. May the peace that passes our understanding be with you and your family. 

Steve was, I believe, my second cousin. We just called each other cousins while we went to school and church together and both of us enjoyed riding motorcycles. We both had a pretty serious incident on our motorcycles very close together and promised to call each other with a warning if it ever happened again. He was a wonderful man and as often happens we fell out of touch. So sorry to hear he has passed. My sympathy.


Steve was a fair guy.  Insisted on paying full price for my confections.  Never accepted family discounts.   Plus, he brought me doughnuts from Steenstra’s when he passed thru my neighborhood.  
His love language was giving to others.  He noticed the little things about people.  I’ll miss him.
