Terry was born on July 23, 1944 and grew up in Allendale, Michigan. He spent his childhood riding bikes, playing baseball, and working hard on the family farm. He was particularly fond of accompanying his father to the markets in Grand Rapids to sell produce, and it was through these experiences that he developed a strong work ethic and high standard of integrity.
Terry’s hard work and relentless efforts to love and honor God were evident throughout the way he raised his family, carried out his sales career, and pursued volunteer work in retirement. He was a helper, a fixer, a person of wise counsel, and a trusted friend. He loved to camp, read, wash his cars (cleanliness next to godliness!), listen to southern gospel music, and sing. He found great joy in spending warm winters in Florida, tending the grounds at the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds in the summer, and beating his opponents at a game of Pegs and Jokers whenever the opportunity arose. He was most proud of the fact that all of his children know and love the Lord.
As he faced his final weeks of life, Terry’s love for God and his longing to be with Jesus allowed him to remind all of his friends and family that, no matter the outcome the future held, he would win either way. His life is best summarized by the words of his favorite hymn, “It Is Well.” Always a content man, Terry’s life exuded the calm reassurance that whatever our lot, Thou hast taught us to say, it is well, it is well, with our souls.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents John and Rena Sall and brother, Allyn Sall. He is survived by his bride of 58 years, Marian Sall; siblings Dale (Delores) Sall, Harlyn (Sandy) Sall, Joy (Larry) Visser; sister-in-law, Janice Sall; and children Todd (Amy) Sall, Tim (Melissa) Sall, Trent (Amy) Sall, Michelle (George) Bodbyl, and Megan (Noel) Rydecki. His many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also mourn his loss: Katharine (Adam), Nicholas (Brandon), Jenn (Josh), Lindsay (Jon), Mason, Keegan, Madison, Grant, Levi, Quinn, Olivia, Emma, Sofia, Elliot, Gabriel, Clara, and Cooper.
