Thelma Jerene Yonker

Thelma was born August 18, 1920 in Holland, MI to Jennie and Thomas Venhuizen. She married Harold F. Yonker, March 3, 1942. He preceded her in death in January 1978.

She is survived by her children, Robert Harold Marty Ann Yonker, of Metamora IL, Kathy Marty Silvernail of Arvada, CO, Jerene Tom Turcotte of Rockford, MI, and Mary Ellen Don Songer of Luther, MI. She is survived by her dearly loved grandchildren; Angela, Todd and Tyler Sarah Silvernail, Bethany Yonker, Jessica Turcotte, and Will Songer; also by her great granddaughter Abigail, daughter of Tyler and Sarah. She is survived by her sister Genevieve Engelsman and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Jennie Venhuizen, husband Harold, sisters Gert Dokter, Ann Lambert, and Pearl Veenstra.

Thelma "Jerry" now joins her husband Harold "Curly" after a long life of sharing her stories while never complaining about personal challenges.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at First Reformed Church of Grandville, with Rev. Stu Blauw officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building 4235 Prairie St. SW. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Reformed Church Scholarship Fund which was founded in 1978 when Harold died or to the Clark Foundation a benevolent care fund.
