
Mr. Gaastra is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty; one son, Thomas Phyllis Gaastra; one daughter, Terri Tom Johnston both of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Tanya, Shanon, and Tyler Gaastra, Brandi Johnston; great grandchild Alexandria. Also surviving are two brothers, Otto Gwen Gaastra of Hawaii, George Dorothy Gaastra; sister Winifred Carl Compagner both of Grand Rapids, MI; special brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at the Cook Memorial Chapel east building, 4235 Prairie St. SW with Rev. Eugene Voss of Zion Reformed Church officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. from the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building.
