Thomas W. DeWitt

Thomas W. DeWitt, Esq. 58 of East Grand Rapids. Thomas W. DeWitt, born May 31, 1951, died suddenly on June 26, 2009 at his home. Tom was a life-long resident of the Grand Rapids area, graduating from Grandville High School in 1969. He completed undergraduate studies in economics, graduating in 1973 with high honors at the University of Oklahoma where he was president of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He graduated from University of Michigan law school in 1975, also with high honors. He has practiced law in the Grand Rapids area since 1976.

He is survived by his father, William J. DeWitt of Grandville, sister Kathryn Matthew Collins of Ypsilanti and close friend, Linda Brown of Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his mother, Muriel T. DeWitt.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M, at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW, west building. Memorial services will be held 1 P.M. Monday, June 30 at Cook Memorial Chapel east building. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The University of Oklahoma Band.
