Thomas J. Taylor went home to Heaven on August 28, 2021. Together on earth for 71 years, he and his wife Mary Lou Taylor were separated by death for only 28 days. Their son David predeceased them. Tom is survived by his children Regina (Roland) Calnin, Eileen (Tim) Maday, Thomas (Mary) Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Mark (Sarah) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. His brother John and sister Laurette are the two of seven siblings who survive him.
Throughout his life, Tom’s primary mission was to care for his family. After two years of service in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Fordham University with a pharmacy degree. He worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research, in his own retail pharmacy, and as a serial entrepreneur throughout his life. His goal was always to ensure that his wife and children were provided for - and he always met that goal. In retirement, he enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida with Mary Lou and the companionship of his book club friends. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always appreciated their many visits. His sense of humor was appreciated by those he knew, and lasted until just a few hours before his death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment of both Tom and Mary Lou will take place privately at Lakeshore Cemetery in Park Township. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Community Outreach Program at St. Sebastian Church or Spectrum Hospice.
