Thomas Wines

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Joseph and Catherin Wines (Keeler); his stepfather, Jack Keeler; his daughter, Laura Wines; and his former wife, Mary Wines.

Tom was a wonderful, supportive father and he will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children Robert Wines, Jeanne (Richard) Wines, Charlotte (Reed) Johnson, Constance Wines, and Kathleen (Pablo) Moreno; grandchildren Jason Wines, Kyle (Jennifer) Lefevre, Kaileigh Bianchini, Jackson Reed, and Steven Wines; great-grandchild, Harrison Wines; former wife, Dr. Joan Wines, Ph.D; and his siblings Sally (Robert) Johnson and Sister Maureen Keeler OP; plus many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Born in Detroit, Tom was an alumnus of the University of Detroit High School and Michigan State University. Tom was a CPA and after several years of public and private practice, he entered the academic field as a professor of accounting at universities and colleges throughout the midwest. Tom was an avid lifelong reader and upon retiring and moving to Grandville, he joined the staff of Kent County District Library. Tom was a dedicated swimmer his whole life and he swam competitively for the Detroit Yacht Club, University of Detroit High School, and Michigan State University. As an older adult, he became an active member of the Master’s Swim Club. After moving to Grandville, Tom thoroughly enjoyed cheering on his many grand-nieces and -nephews in their competitive sporting activities.

A Celebration of Life with relatives and friends will be held from 12 - 3 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at West Michigan Caterer and Banquet Center, 3075 - 28th Street SW, Grandville. Tom wanted everyone to remember the good times, so please come to share stories and memories.
