

ALWARD - Todd Alward, age 59, kept smiling through his journey on earth, and on Thursday, March 16, 2017, smiled in the presence of his Savior. He inspired his family and all he touched through his battle with ALS, his persistent positive outlook, and his personal motto, “Keep smiling.”
Todd will be lovingly remembered by his mother, June Alward, his son, Chase Alward, his siblings, Leisha (Doug) McCullough, Ross (Patti) Alward, along with his special nieces, Andrea, Abbey, Morgan and Allie, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen J. Alward.
Todd was a likeable guy and a hard worker. He worked in the Door Division of Lumbermen’s Inc. Todd loved the outdoors and deer hunting. He recently got to shoot an elk through The Tom Siple Foundation, you can see it on display at Dublin Jerky. Todd crossed another experience off his “Bucket List” last summer when he and some family and friends went skydiving. The family would like to thank all their family and friends for all the love and support along Todd’s journey and for the compassionate care of the staff at Spectrum Health, Visiting Angels and Faith Hospice/Trillium Woods.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Todd’s family will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St., S.W. (East building). Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Monday at Resurrection Life Church - in the Rez Center, 5100 Ivanrest Ave., S.W. Please enter through either Door H or Door I. Pastor Dean VanderMey will be officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery.
In honor of Todd, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice of the ALS Association.
