

Vernon Bowling, age 96, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, December 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Francis Lorraine (Veenstra) Bowling; brothers Bob and Joseph Bowling; sister, Mildred Preston. He is survived by his children Mary (Mitch) Burgess of White Cloud, MI, Mark Bowling of Holland, MI, Michael Bowling and Tom Fink of Phoenix, AZ, and Matthew (Michele) Bowling of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren Tyler (Julie) Burgess, Travis Burgess, Amber (Jacob) Waugh, and Amanda Bond; great-grandchildren Kayla Mae, Lilliayn, Tyler, and River Burgess; sisters-in-law Carol Bowling and Gertrude Emelander; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Vern was loved by many and you could count on seeing him with a smile on his face and always ready for a conversation. He was blessed to experience and enjoy many things in life. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and general outdoorsman. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, participating in local parades, and was an Awana Boys Club leader for several years. He regularly attended church, was a faithful follower of God, and loved spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Chapel Pointe, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, MI 49426, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service.
