She was an example of someone who rose from rags to middle class status. Working long hard hours for 38 years in a factory, she found time to be an outstanding gardener, preserving the fruits of her labor for family. Her therapy was teaching ceramic classes from her home for more than 35 years. Her greatest joy remained as a role model of strength and character for all of her family.
She joins her parents David and Anna Bentz; mother-in-law Selma Varilek, brothers David Jr. and Wayne Bentz; sister Ruth Bentz and great-grandson Levi Putnam.
Viola leaves her husband of 66 years, Ivan Putnam; children Duane (Anita) Putnam, Judy (Larry) Snider; sister LaVonna (Clifford) Herrboldt; brother Ervin Bentz; grandchildren Anna (James) Diem, Matthew (Kelly) Putnam, Ethan (Brandie) Putnam, Shawn (Crystal) Snider, Stacy (Snider) Olson; great-grandchildren Gracie, Gibson, Graham, Wyatt, Emma, Carter, Stella, Aneka, and Forrest, sister-in-law Marlene Bentz; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the caring staff of Faith Hospice especially Kathy, Shannon and Abbie.
