
He is survived by his children, Dr. Daniel Barbara Balbach of Ann Arbor, Mary Richard Ohman of Hancock, NH, Elisabeth James Wood of Grand Rapids, Ruth Roger Goldsmith of Falmouth, MA. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Rev. Joseph Esther Balbach, Barbara Joseph Rathbun, Mary Louis Buffham, Cornelius Balbach all of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Bill was born in Grand Rapids on November 14, 1910, and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Architecture and spent his working career in furniture design. After retiring he devoted himself to watercolor painting, teaching others to paint and to take note of the wonders of God's creation and colors.
His children, grand and great, were the joys of his life. He had a life long involvement in the ministries of Berean Baptist Church. The heart beat of his life was being a follower of Jesus Christ.
Many thanks to Covenant Village of the Great Lakes for their caring community. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 31st at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Covenant Village of Great Lakes, 2520 Lake Michigan Drive NW 49504.
