W.J. Bill Richter

March 9, 1928October 11, 2003

RICHTER - W. J. 'Bill' Richter II, age 75, of Hudsonville, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 11, 2003. He was preceded in death by his son W. J. 'Bill' Richter III. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years June; his children, Jill Don Reyers and Randy Lynne Richter; his 6 grandchildren, Brandon Cindy Richter, Jennifer Reyers, Kristie Reyers, D. J. Heather Reyers, Nikki Richter, and Tani Richter; his brother A. J. Joan Richter; his dear sister Janet John Buth; his sister-in-law Lorraine Hahn; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. Bill started with Ansul Chemical Company in the early 1950's. He was one of the first four in the U.S.A. to start their own distributorship in 1957 - The Vanguard Fire and Supply Company. Bill was an avid athlete and was a lifetime member of the downtown YMCA where he played handball with the same group of friends for 30 years. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cook Memorial Chapel 4235 Prairie St SW - east building with Dr. Richard Rhem of Spring Lake officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of West Michigan or the Grand Rapids Downtown YMCA.
