Betty was born on February 6, 1964, in Pendleton, Oregon. She was a proud graduate of Wasco County High School and the youngest—lucky number 13—of all her siblings.
Betty had her first daughter, Echo Autumn, with Earl Huitt and later married Asa Rockwell at age 22 on June 20, 1986, which was also her father Bill Hudson’s birthday. They honeymooned at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk with Echo in tow. Asa adopted Echo, and together they had three more children: Jennifer, Gloria, and her only son, William, as she would proudly say. Her children were the light of her life. During her later years, all of her children took her in during hard times, giving them the opportunity to experience countless adventures with her, and get to know and love her even more deeply as adults. Betty was also a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews, and at times helped raise them as her very own. One niece in particular, Miranda, she took in as a daughter for a big part of her childhood, and Miranda stood by her side through thick and thin in her final years. Betty was always laughing with, loving, teaching, and playing with all of "her kids."
A stay-at-home mom, Betty enjoyed camping, teaching the kids to swim, music, singing, and anything outdoors, one of her favorite songs was ‘Long as I can see the light’ Creedence Clearwater. She went skydiving once and would have gone a million times if she had the chance. Betty found joy in everything she did and made sure to instill this quality in her children. Her favorite pastime was driving, and she jumped at any opportunity to do so. She also loved playing cribbage, spending hours playing with her husband, and teaching anyone she could how to play. Betty was known for her love of the color yellow, her Cherry Chapstick, and, of course, Betty Boop! She was passionate about giving gifts and never showed up for a birthday, event, or even a visit empty-handed. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and made sure those she loved felt special and remembered. Even when her love was not reciprocated, she loved unconditionally.
Betty became a grandma on July 19, 2004, to Kira Ann, and continued to experience the joy of grandmotherhood with the births of Devon, Leaira, Skylar, Myaco, Brooklynn, and Novana. She was overjoyed at the opportunity to have "her batch of kids" again and showed them the same love and incredible joy her own children were privileged to know.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bill and Bessie; her sisters, Dorothea, Donna, and Patty; her brothers, Scott and Claude; one unborn child; and her 20-year-old black cat, Casper. She is survived by her four children: Echo, Jennifer, Gloria, and William; her sisters: Ellen, Nancy, MaryLou, and Susie; her brothers: Jack, Jimmy, and Bobbie; her niece, Miranda; her seven grandchildren; and countless other nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and even a great-niece!
Betty’s faith in her Lord and Savior was strong, and she is waiting to receive her loved ones on the other side.
