Clint Edward Robertson

He was born Oct. 5, 1964, in Arlington, California. He spent most of his life in southern Oregon.

Clint worked with his hands and was good at it. He started in automotive upholstery at Rogue Custom Upholstery in Grants Pass, a family shop he named, and his door panels, headliners and carpeting appeared in show cars featured in car magazines. He later moved to Medford and built a career in custom sign making, including hand-bent neon, a trade few people still practice. Precision mattered to him, and he did not cut corners.

He loved the river, and it gave him the three things he cared about most. He fished it, he panned it for gold, and he walked its bars looking for arrowheads. He had a patient eye and found things other people walked past.

Clint is survived by his mother, Brenda Barber of Cottonwood, California; his longtime partner, Melody Heffner of Grants Pass; his daughters, Stacy Robertson and Rachael Robertson; his brothers, Michael Smith of Port Hueneme, California, and Kelly Smith of Reno, Nevada; four grandchildren, Rianna, Korbyn, Miley and Taryn; and two great-grandchildren, Héléna and Julius.

The family will scatter his ashes privately on the river.
