Daniel was born on November 29, 1946, to Donald and Mary Rich in Fresno, California. He grew up with three siblings, Larry, Jerry, and Donna. After graduating, he immediately enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1964 to 1970 aboard the USS Collett during the Vietnam War.
He married high school sweetheart, Judy Miller in 1968 and had two daughters. They lived their life in Grants Pass, OR, where they both had immediate family. Daniel and Judy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2018. Sadly, Judy passed away suddenly in July 2018.
Daniel was a carpenter and contractor for 40 yrs. He was a very dedicated man and cared more about things being done right than fast. He was very proud of every house that he built and made friends with everyone along the way. After retiring, he was always helping his family and neighbors with building projects or a broken faucet, whatever they needed. He was forever a helper.
He loved spending his time outside tending to his land and caring for his many cats. He looked forward to the annual family hunting trip. He also greatly enjoyed the beach trips spent with Judy and all the kids.
He taught his family about hard work, having integrity, and being committed. He was a figure of strength and reassurance, a man who spoke more through actions than words.
Daniel is survived by his two daughters, Tammy and Wendy, grandchildren Eric, Andrea, and Edwin. He also has been blessed with great-grandchildren, Jackson, Joseph, Elliana and one great-grandson on the way who will carry Daniel's name.
Instead of a funeral service, Daniel chose to have a small celebration of life ceremony at a special beach that him and Judy loved. Daniel and Judy wanted their ashes spread together by the ocean with immediate family.
