night on January 29, 2023. Ella “Janie” Hohmann is survived by two of her sisters, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janie was the matriarch of her family and was an active party in her grandchildren’s upbringing.
Janie was born November 28, 1946 in Wright, Oklahoma. Eldest of five, she lived on a farm with her parents and sisters before relocating to Oregon. Her family spent several years in Gold Beach before they moved to Merlin, where their home is maintained in the family to this day.
From a young age she loved music and practiced playing the Saxophone, clarinet, piano, accordion, violin, flute, and guitar. She had a passion for gardening. Her love of rhododendrons, begonias, carnations, and tomatoes reflected in the many gardens she planted. She was known as “Janie from the Garden Center” at the local Walmart, having worked there for over 20 years.
