Gertrude Alta (Pence) Herrmann passed away early Saturday morning, November 21st at Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, Oregon. Gertie was born to Minus and Osa (Middlebusher) Pence on May 27, 1930. She lived and worked in the Rogue Valley her entire life. Gertie was the youngest and last of her nine brothers and sisters who preceded her. Both the Pence and Middlebusher families were among the earliest settlers in the Rogue Valley Oregon area. She was the wife of 74yrs to LaDale Herrmann and the mother of three children, Dale, Carmen and Randal. She was the grandmother of Jacob, Mary and Alta Herrmann and Carmen Ruby and great grandmother of Robert, Persayus and Pandora Richey of Kansas and to Cauan and Luana Cabada, Giovanah and Elias Herrmann and Brianna of Texas and Ashlyn (Berkholtz) Howe of Oklahoma. As a teenager she worked as an usherette at the original Holly movie theater in Medford, where she met her future husband, LaDale. The teenagers soon eloped to Reno, Nevada (to the consternation and surprise of both the Pence and Herrmann families). She had been a popular bartender for 23yrs at Ed’s Oasis in Eagle point until retirement. She was loved by all and will surely be missed very much by those she has left behind. See you later Mom!
