Janice Artie Bove

Janice lived with steady purpose and quiet strength—hard-working in her responsibilities, thoughtful in her care for others, and honest in the way she met the world. Her faith remained a guiding presence throughout her life, and those who knew her best will remember a woman whose kindness was offered freely, whose wisdom was practical and reassuring, and whose love made others feel safe and valued.

Janice worked as an accountant at HR Textron, bringing diligence and integrity to her work. Beyond her profession, she was a beloved presence to family and friends—someone whose example inspired through constancy, patience, and the simple sincerity of showing up for the people she loved. She was a proud volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul soup kitchen.

Janice was married to Thomas Bove for 69 years. They met in the Los Angeles area in 1950, where they lived and raised their family for 27 years. Their first date was on a motorcycle—a fitting beginning for a life that would include its share of adventure and new horizons. In the 80's and 90's, she had a home in Lake Tahoe, where she loved to snow ski. She retired in Frazier Park, CA and lived there for 7 years, before finally settling down in Grants Pass, OR for the remainder of her life.

Her life was enriched by the everyday joys she embraced wholeheartedly: bowling, sewing, camping, and swimming. She loved swimming at the YMCA, and she loved people—finding meaning in conversation, companionship, and community. She always wanted to ride a horse but did not get the chance. She also dearly loved her dog Toto and looked forward to grooming him. Janice enjoyed sitting on her front porch, a familiar and welcoming sight to those nearby, and she was a good neighbor to Brian and Barry in Saugus, CA on Paraguay Drive. Patriotic and faithful, she attended St. Anne Catholic Church, where she found support and fellowship.

Janice delighted in family life and in the moments that made it memorable—especially attending her daughter Carol's gymnastic meets, and taking her children and their friends camping. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, a loyal wife, and, in the words shared by those closest to her, “sweet and nice and loving, a great mom.” Jessica says, “My grandma was a loving caring person, I love her and miss her.” Carol says, “I miss you so very much Mom! You ❤️ are definitely my best friend!!! Love ❤️ forever, Carol Bove-Vautrain.”

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her sisters Dorothy and Eileen, and her brother Sonny.

Janice is survived by her children Martin, Teresa, Ronald, and Carol; her sister Eunice; her grandchildren Joshua, Tony, Ryan, Jessica, Joey, Tamara, Shalisha, and Nathan; and her great grandchildren London, Ethan, Gracie, Kennedy.

Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home, 2065 Upper River Rd, 2065 Upper River Rd., Grants Pass, OR 97526, on September 9, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

A Religious Ceremony will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1131 NE 10th St, Grants Pass, OR 97526, on September 10, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point OR 97524 on September 10th, 2026, at 11:00 am.
