In Greek “Jason” means “A healing”. This description accurately fits Jason William Myers. From the time he was a little boy he was known as the birdman. Family, friends and neighbors would drop off the sick and injured birds to be fixed and taken care of. Jason will be remembered as being rebellious at heart, loyal and opinionated. He was an individual, who clearly communicated to those around him just who he was and what he was all about. He also, carried a strong sense of military duty and brotherhood with him throughout his life.
His parents were Charles and Denise Myers. Jason was raised in Santa Rosa, Novato, and Manteca, California. His siblings are David, Jennifer, Beth, Ben and Emily. He knew from a young age that he wanted to go into the military and be a medic.
Jason was an Army veteran. His sense of duty helped lead him into the military where his understanding of rank, his willingness to abide by rules and regulations and his desire to follow orders was admired by his fellow service men and women. He was a medic from 1986 to 1994 and spent much of his military service stationed in Germany. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Medic Specialist. He received several awards recognizing him for his heroism, including an Army Service Ribbon and Army Achievement Medal.
Jason approached his leisure time in the same manner that he approached his life. .He appreciated the hours he was able to devote to his various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were target shooting, four-wheeling, camping, boating, hiking and riding horses. Jason was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. He was willing to share his ideas and knowledge for the benefit of others, whether you wanted to hear it or not. One of Jason’s most endearing qualities was his uncanny ability to remember important dates and his strong passion for our country’s history.
Jason passed away on March 19, 2018 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Joyce; father Charles; siblings David, Beth, Ben, and Emily. Jason was preceded in Death by his grandparents Reverend Sammy and Aileen Myers; mother Denise and Benny Hampton and his sister Jennifer.
Services will be held April 2, 2018 at Chapel of the Valley - L. B Hall Funeral Home. Jason will be laid to rest in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
