

Jean Yvonne Merrill, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on September 1, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on April 23, 1941, Jean was the only beloved child of George and Faye Brickell. Jean found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Jean attended Grants Pass High School, then married Kenneth Merrill and became a full-time homemaker. She later worked as a caregiver for many years, compassionately caring for others throughout her career.
Jean loved the outdoors, treasuring camping trips among the majestic Redwoods and traveling to the Oregon Coast, where she found peace in the beauty of the ocean and the simple pleasure of spending time with loved ones. She also enjoyed watching football and playing bingo, pastimes that brought her happiness and many memorable moments with family and friends.
Jean is survived by her five children, Pam Thomas, Grants Pass, Ted Merrill, Little Rock, Arkansas, Linda Taylor, Hyrum, Utah, Cheryl Chavez, Grants Pass, Joanne Bainbridge, Redlands, California, her 12 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, George and Faye Brickell, and her husband, Kenneth Merrill.
Those who knew Jean will remember her for her kind nature, warmth, and compassion. Her legacy of kindness will live on and inspire those who loved her. Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
