John Edward Corvan was born March 7, 1930 in Los Angeles California to George R Corvan and Thelma Christine Graham Corvan. He also joined two sisters Ruth and Barbara at home. John graduated from Covina high school in 1948 he worked and helped his parents. In April 1953 he joined the US Army, he went to Korea and he was honorably discharged in April 1955. He worked as a service station attendant in California. He used to make the stations bank deposit, he always tried to go to a certain teller Evelyn Russell so he could tease her. He finally convinced Evelyn to date him and they were married April 24, 1957 in Las Vegas Nevada. Their minister was there for a conference so he and his minister’s buddy married them. Nine months later George Wesley was born 20 months later Linda Marie was born, John named Linda. We lived in Southern California until in 1968 when we moved to Grants Pass Oregon and purchased a 10 acre farm in Jerome Prairie area. They raised everything they ate. “Good Eating.” John worked at the Shell station next to the fairgrounds pumping gas, servicing big rigs, and renting U-Hauls. He was asked to join U-Haul as a service rep, he drove a company truck, the family called the aardvark, it was a different shape. He worked for them for quite a while then U-Haul cut 1/4 of the workforce dad was the last one hired in the first rep to be laid off. He then went to trucking school in Lodi California where he worked hauling tomatoes to Hunts. Then he came home and went to work for Interstate Distributor Company, he drove 46 states covering over 500,000 miles safely. He got a plaque and a check, he was a happy man. Dad did so good at Interstate Distributor Company he got his own company truck with his name on the doors. When he took vacation the company wanted to use his truck he said “OK if you can guarantee a non-smoking driver!” The truck sat in our yard during vacations. After several years at Interstate Distributor Company he decided to retire. He took his name plates off the truck and turned it in. He enjoyed his retirement. In 2006 his son George Wesley passed away, in 2009 his wife Evelyn passed away. Then it was just dad and I we took care of each other through our health crisis. He was in Laurel Hill twice, he was well liked by all and he still has friends there. Elvis was a regular performer there I took dad to a performance and Elvis gave me his scarf. I still have it. Dad did well at home with home health care. I took care of him until July 13, 2019. I made sure he socialized usually at McDonald’s in the Walmart. We came home July 13 and his blood pressure dropped and he was hospitalized, then he was transferred to Highland house to the veteran’s wing that we didn’t even know existed. He was there until he passed on September 9, 2019. The nurses and people there loved him as do we. John is survived by his daughter Linda Sanders of Grants Pass. Burial services will take place at Eagle point national Cemetery on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 10 AM. Chapel of The Valley- LB Hall Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
