

Larry Thomas, age 67, of Grants Pass, died on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016, of natural causes. Larry was born March 16, 1949 in Lindsay, California, to the late Lloyd and Louise Thomas. He attended Lindsay High School. Larry served in the US Army in Vietnam and earned two Purple Hearts and a two Bronze Star Medals. In 1972, he was married to his true soul mate, Mitzi Thomas. Larry and Mitzi moved from California to Oregon in 1978. During his time in Grants Pass, Larry worked at the Post Office as a rural mail carrier and after his retirement from the Post Office, worked at Josephine County Animal Control, where he has a walking trail named in his honor. Over the years, Larry and Mitzi have had adventures raising birds, collecting old cars and cutting firewood and many other things Mitzi dragged him into, like selling jewelry and laundry balls! Larry was a quiet comedian, with a very dry sense of humor. He lived his life for his wife and his family. He was an incredibly hard worker and loved to read in his spare time. Larry is survived his son, David Thomas; their daughter, Sara Rubrecht; their five grandchildren, Molly, Alex, Kelsey, Raphael and Sydney; as well as his two sisters, Beverly Sherfey and Nancie Thomas. Funeral services for Larry Thomas will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 26th, at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home (corner of G and Leonard in Grants Pass, OR). A reception will be held following the service.
