Bob graduated from Lorraine High School and continued his education at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark and McPherson College, Ks. He graduated with a degree in education but found his passion in Native American artifacts. He moved to Portland Oregon and taught one year there. Then with a young family to raise he moved to Hutchinson Kansas and continued his education career at Sherman Jr. High, Union Five and then at Nickerson Elementary for 20 years. Then in 1975 his passion called and he moved to Payson, Arizona where he built “The Hopi House” store dealing in Indian artifacts and jewelry. Then in 1988 he moved to Shady Cove Oregon where he built his most loved home on the Rogue River.
Bob married Shirley Barnes from Siloam Springs in1955 after their divorce he married Beth Washburn in 1975 they were married 44 years until her death on Aug. 13, 2018. Bob and Beth enjoyed many years of living and traveling the southwest and northwest United States.
Bob Sies was preceded in death by his family: father, William Sies, mother Myrtle Sies, step-mother Mary Alice Sies, brothers, Glen Sies (died as an infant), Warren Sies, Norman Sies, sisters, Vivian (Sies) Ellsworth, and Gloria (Sies) Service.
Bob is survived by his children: Brenda Sies (Austin, Tx), Linda (Randy) Henderson (Hutchinson Ks), Glen Sies (Medford Or), Lori Reynolds (Hutchinson,Ks), and Joel Hilton (Terra Haute, Indiana) and eight grandkids and seven great grandkids.
Cremation has taken place in Grants Pass Oregon. A celebration of life will take place at a later date at the family burial in Lorraine Kansas.
