Russ McDougall

He was born February 1, 1951, in Ashland, Oregon to Marcella and Raymond McDougall. After graduating from Ashland High School in 1968, he enlisted in the Navy, proudly serving for seven years, achieving the rank of FTG1 before being medically retired.

Russ married Chris Golden in June of 1972 and so began their 54-year adventure. His love of learning and exploring led them to travel the United States with their sons, Colby and Tyler, eventually returning to their roots in the Rogue Valley. Using his innate ability to inspire and teach, he happily committed to several years as Scoutmaster of Troop 535 in Talent. He was also well known for his ability to tackle any project, ranging from remodeling houses to doing a frame up restoration of his classic 1958 MGA. He was always happy to help friends, family, and neighbors.

After 35 years of mowing and irrigating pastures in Talent, Russ traded his John Deere for an electric mower and a tiny lawn in Grants Pass. This welcome change provided many opportunities for international travel as well as more time to spend planning and executing epic adventures with his beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Grayson.

Russ is survived by his wife and lifelong best friend, Chris; his sons Colby and Tyler; grandchildren, Alexis and Grayson and sisters; Marcene O’Neil and Celeste Weander.

Russ enjoyed a lifetime of learning and travel; he will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
