Afton Leon Herring

GRAPEVINE – Leon Herring, 87, passed away Wed, Dec. 31, 2014 in Grapevine. SERVICES:  3pm Wed, Jan. 14, 2015 at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Tues, Jan, 13. Leon was born Nov. 6, 1927 in Canton, TX, the son of Joe and Mae (Brown) Herring.  He was a skilled cabinet maker and enjoyed yard work and any outdoor activity.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with his friends daily at Waffle House.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eddie Wayne Herring and his wife Linda and also by his son Roger Dean Herring and sister, Dorothy Crowell. SURVIVORS:  He is survived by his wife Tommie Herring of the home; stepdaughters, Alisa Clark and husband Bill and Brenda Mayfield all of Grapevine; grandsons, Tyler Herring and wife Brook and Andrew Herring and wife Casey; daughter-in-law, Joyce Herring of Ft. Worth; sister, Laura Chasteen and husband Jack of Keller; step-grandchildren, Adam Mayfield, Kevin Mayfield, Jennifer Kroft and husband Matt, Christina O’Brien, Patricia Kelly, Jerry Stewart and Jason O’Brien; step-great-grandchildren, Felecity Mayfield, Emma Kroft, Landyn Harper ,Mary Kaitlyn Jeffreys, Marcus A. Jeffreys, Haylee Jeffreys, Hannah Jeffreys and Megan Kelly; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and Dean Green and a host of friends.
