She was born in Rochester, New York on September 20, 1948.
Barbara graduated from Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge Louisiana. She studied art at Louisiana State University and went on to obtain her Bachelor's of Arts from Framingham State University.
She was a passionate and talented artist who also called herself a domestic engineer and a crazy cat lady. Barbara was also a lover and advocate of all animals, as well as a lifelong member of the ASPCA. In addition, she was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous celebrating over 30 years of sobriety.
Barbara was a survivor and one of the sharpest, toughest people you would ever meet. When a drunk driver changed her life forever in a car accident and it was said she would never walk or function on her own again, she persevered, she fought, and she did walk again. She spent the rest of her life living for Jesus Christ our savior and through his grace, her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard T. Pethtel and Beverly J. Pethtel.
She was survived by her daughter Jamie J. Waddell, her grandchildren, Jordan T. James and wife Sydney M. James, Johnathan B. Waddell and Avery L. Redfearn, her great grandchildren, Judah T. James and Jordan T. James Jr., as well as her two sisters Marty Hickerson and husband Stan and Sue McNutt and husband Darrell, her nieces Kelly D. Hickerson, Ashley L. Schroeder and Molly M. Berry, her nephew Clay L. McNutt, and many great nieces, nephews and friends that loved her very much.
Goodnight Irene…….
