Betty Jo May

Betty Jo “BJ” May of Grapevine, Tx passed away peacefully September 19, 2024. Betty was born November 28, 1937, in Falls County, Tx to Bill and Billy Krysinski. She spent most of her life raising a family in the Houston Heights. Betty married Hugh A. May Jr. in May 1962. They had two daughters, Brenda and Lynda. Betty lived in Houston until relocating to north Texas in 1983. Betty was employed by Bristol Myers Squibb as warehouse manager for the southern US distribution center. She was very proud to have had this long-standing role, 40+ years, succeeding in what she referred to as “a man’s world.”

After retirement she focused on home life, caring for her husband and beloved dog “Crumb”. Betty enjoyed gardening, baking, and visiting with neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Hugh A. May Jr. She is survived by her daughters Brenda May (Keith Smith) of Porum, OK and Lynda Watters (David Gillan) of Colleyville, Tx, granddaughters Madeline Gillan of Princeton, Tx and Elizabeth Gillan of Austin, Tx, siblings Virginia Weaver, Donald “Butch” Krysinski, and Patricia Adcock.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bedford Estates Senior Living (Memory Care) for the kind and gracious care they provided over the past 16 months. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/).
