She is survived by her children Larissa and Kevin; her grandchildren Gage aka Pork Chop, Brenton aka Tator, Jacob aka Momo, Karsyn aka Chickadee, Bryan aka Cornbread and Baylee aka Puddin; her great-grandchildren Jamie, Zoey, Isabelle and Anna; her mother Mary Belle and sister Judy. She is preceded in death by her father Paul.
Brenda was born September 12, 1960 in Memphis, TN, but she was a true Texas woman through and through.
She was proud, as we all should be, when she earned her GED and CNA. She deeply enjoyed helping grieving families who came through the doors of the McLaughlin Mortuary in Fort Walton Beach, FL. It gave her a sense of purpose, helping others. She played the piano beautifully every opportunity she got until her hands could no longer. She never turned down a trip to the thrift store or antiquing. Her cross-stitch has withstood the test of time. An eclectic taste in music and a good classic horror movie kept her entertained. A hopeless romantic. Anna Karenina was her favorite book. Purple, unicorns, butterflies and El Fenix will forever evoke her memory.
Most of all she loved being a Mom and Bernie, in her own words “bigger than the sky and deeper than the ocean forever and ever”. The most beautiful woman I have ever know, she just wanted to feel loved.
“We may all be a peculiar lot…often broke, often dissatisfied because we’re not doing more and better work…but we know how to have a ball that makes the rest of the world seem square.”
