When I married into this family in 1985, I was immediately impressed by a number of things.  It’s size first off.  I come from a mid-sized family and was kind of blown away by the sheer number of family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers etc.  Another thing that impressed me greatly was the love I could see all around whenever we’d visit or just talk on the phone/ social media lately.  Each of us are busy in our own lives, but never too busy for family. I’m from a much smaller family, and though there are fewer of us and therefore we should be able to spend more time with one another, we don’t.  It’s an incredibly important aspect that over the years, has become one of the things I feel to be most important in life.
Betty has a deep and abiding love for her nephew Carlos.  I can see it in her eyes, through the tears as she shares stories with me as we grieve his loss over these last few days.  So many stories all of a life well lived.  Of a man dedicated to living the best life that he could.  And making life for all those around him better.
Carlos welcomed me with open arms when Betty and I got married.  He always had a smile as he looked me square in the eye.  We had many laughs together, because as you all know, he was a serious cat, but always ready to cut up a little…or a lot!  We were able to build our relationship based on mutual respect, trust and our love of family.  I was impressed by his dedication and love for all.  It seems every waking moment was devoted to his family.  It’s progress and protection.  
He already was a leader.  Had he not been taken away so early, the accomplishments he was completing would have been epic.  He truly had greatness written in his soul.  And that,”Greatness” would have blessed us all.  Our lives will never be the same without Carlos and I pray his memory continues to guide us as we look for answers and seek solutions moving forward as a family.

I love you, Renee. My heart is broken for you, Lauren, and the girls. When I introduced you to Carlos, I knew you were made for each other. I told him not to blow it. The two of you were soulmates. I loved watching the two of you in the kitchen. He made the best margaritas and loved to cook. I’m truly grateful God sent him my way. God knew he was the one for you. He gave you the family you always dreamed of. ❤️ 

Carlos was a kind man who loved his family. I don’t think he ever met a stranger. ZestFest won’t be the same without him but we will carry him in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with Renee, Lauren, Jacie, Keira, and Aria along with all of his family and friends. We know he  will watch over them from heaven and we will help them here on earth. May he Rest In Peace. 

Carlos was a great friend, great co-worker, and great competitor. We always had fun at work and on the golf course. He will be missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to Renee and the girls. God bless.

Carlos & Renee are two of the best people I know.  Carlos was one of my husband’s best friends.  He was always there to help with a project, move furniture or make margaritas!!!  (Not necessarily in that order!). Carlos is greatly missed by our family!  We are sending much love to Renee & the girls.  

Renee, Girls and Family……reading the condolences I feel shorted I did not know Carlos better. WOW……he was Loved and admired! I do know how much Renee loved him and how proud she is of her girls…Cherish the many memories you have until you meet again. GOD has a plan for all of us! Ron Tipton and Family

My prayers go up for Renee, Lauren, Jacie, Keria and all of Carlos’s family.   At this difficult time it is a comfort to know that we will see him again.   1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 

Carlos was loved by everyone he knew. He was the perfect compliment to Renee and will be truly missed. Sending love and prayers to his family for peace and comfort. 

This pic was taken at Uncle Julio’s in Addison. We all know Carl loved Tex-Mex and Margaritas! This was the last pic we took together, though we met up for lunch at Lupe Tortillas in Addison at a later date. Wish we would’ve taken a pic that day too. I’ll always think of Carl every time I have Tex-Mex or Margaritas. I’ll miss you big brother… 

Carlos was one of the best friends I've ever had. I am at such a loss for words at this tragedy. I have peace knowing he is now in heaven . My sincere condolences to Carlo's family. May God bless you all.

You will never meet another person like Carlos! He was someone that you can turn to for help, wisdom, and inspiration.  He was always so caring and always found the time to sit with you  and enjoy the moment.  He had a great zest for life and eagerness to show his creativity. He was awesome in everything he did. We are honored to have created such great memories with him and his family that we will hold dear to our hearts! We miss you already but know you are near. Wishing his family strength and peace. 

I've had the absolute pleasure of knowing Carlos for five years.  He has been my co-worker, but more importantly, a true friend!  He's guided me with my endless questions always showing support and patience.  My heart goes out to Renee, the girls, and family.  We have lost a champion of a guy and I'm lost without him.
Prayers will continue and I hope to see the Lopez family as soon as I can.

Carlos was such a wonderful person to work with. He was a mentor and friend to all of us. And he always kept us laughing - this is what I’ll remember most. My heart goes out to his family and friends. We will miss him dearly.
