Chuck carried a lot of weight at crew schedule in Chicago. He awarded our bids and assigned us our trips and 48s if we didn't hold a trip. One Christmas I did not hold a bid and was assigned to fly the whole Christmas holiday. I had three small children at home. I went into his office and told him. I was scared to death; but I had to do it. I told him the story and he said. Well, I guess we can make that trip go away. I will never forget my elation when he said those words. He was sitting at his desk.
I was so so grateful and never forgot what he did for me. We did not have trip trade services in those days and you could not get rid of a 3 day trip over the whole Christmas holiday. Thank you Chuck. You did a great job here in Chicago and we always used to say " Chuck Carr is the only Heart in American Airlines" God Rest your soul. My condolences to the family. Marcia Wilks
