Christopher Lyn Martin [46], of Flower Mound, Texas passed away on September 1, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chris was born on February 18th, 1975, to Rita Kay McLemore and Lowrey Lyn Martin in Pensacola, Florida. After graduating from Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas in 1993, Chris had great aspirations to join the United States Marine Corp. He achieved the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged. After leaving the Marines, Chris went on to graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2001.
Chris primarily worked for a media marketing firm, and he served as a police officer in the Coppell Police Department. The years leading up to his passing were marked by many highs and lows as his health improved and declined. Throughout it all, Chris remained positive and strong in his faith in God.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often talked about. He was tremendously proud of his son, Henry, and he would have moved mountains to take away the sorrow that Henry is experiencing now.
Chris was also passionate about music, movies, and books. He could often be found listening to his vast music collection, watching a favorite movie with Henry, or reading a book from one of his favorite authors.
Anyone who knows Chris is aware of his love for family and friends. He was the most loving father, son, brother, and friend that a family could ever ask for. Chris was predeceased by his loving grandparents, David Coyett McIlwain and Myrtle Graham McIlwain. He is survived by his mother, Rita Kay McLemore; his father, Lowrey Lyn Martin; his sister, Allison McLemore Carneal; his son, Henry Christopher Martin; his aunt, Charlotte A. Balius, his aunt, Joan E. Griggs and he is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Christopher will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 S MAIN ST, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 523 S MAIN ST, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051. A committal service will occur Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
