I cannot express how truly saddened I am at the loss of Dan. I have been a long time (29-30 years) friend of Dan’s Grandmother, Sammye. Dan along with Emi and Ben have been to my house with Sammye and played with my girls. My oldest daughter, Kirsten, baby sat all three of them in Long Beach and just thought they were the greatest. Though I only saw him a few times you could tell how special and kind he was. Sammye would share all of his achievements and life highlights with me. I felt like I knew him well. I know he is and will always be the light of her life.
I pray for your family to find a way to peace through this tragic time.

One word I have to describe Dan would be genuine. Dan was such a great friend and he is already so missed. Dan and I have been good friends since high school and had continued to talk everyday throughout our first year of college. I have also become such good friends with his sister Emi. I see the same incredible qualities that Dan had through Emi. It’s so beautiful to be able to see Dan live through his little sister. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the Thomas family.
Much love,
Olivia Klement

I remember going on a ski trip to Breckenridge with the Thomas family, one of the first times I met Dan. We had such a blast and I quickly learned that Dan was a truly genuine, fun, and nice person. One thing that always stuck out to me was that Dan said hi to me with a smile every single time he saw me at school, which always made me feel good. I am thinking and praying for the Thomas family.

Dear Thomas Family,

It was a tremendous shock to learn of Dan’s passing. We are all very saddened by the news and words cannot convey how sorry we are for your loss.
We knew Dan as a youngster in Long Beach and it was clear he was a good kid raised right with a bright future ahead of him. It’s also clear from the other comments that he has much love, respect and admiration as well.
Times like this put in perspective what is really important in life and we hope and pray for your entire family to find a way to make it through this tragedy. Know that Dan will be in our hearts and minds and we appreciate the time that we had to know him.

With Love, The Maze Family
