

Deborah Kay Copeland, 62, of Grapevine, passed away July 30, 2014. She was born February 14, 1952 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of David and Violet Utley Baker. Deborah had lived in Grapevine for the past 22 years. She graduated with honors in 1975 from Texas Tech with a BS in Biology and also in 1978 from the University of Texas Southwest Medical School's Physical Therapy Program. Deborah also went to summer school in Durham, England. She loved to travel and at one time was sent to London to give a paper on Medicare. She was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega and enjoyed painting, reading and sports, especially racing, hockey and football. Deborah was christened at the First United Methodist Church Wichita as a child and was later a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. A devoted Physical Therapist for 27 years, Deborah had worked in Home Health and as an assistant Director of Rehab at HEB. She and Melvyn Copeland were united in marriage on June 28, 1992 in Fort Worth. Deborah was preceded in death by her father. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Melvyn Copeland of the home; her mother, Violet Baker of Bedford; sister, Patricia Baker of Keller; 2 stepchildren, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of dear friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Debbie's name to the SPCA.
