Born on February 17, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to William Harold Kaker and Eunice Marie Brown Kaker, Donny lived a life filled with hard work and an unwavering devotion to family.
A proud 1963 graduate of Grapevine High School, Donny was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. His competitive spirit and love for sports continued throughout his life.
On April 2nd, 1965, Donny married the love of his life Beverly Brooks Kaker. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising two children and later being blessed with four grandchildren.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Donny’s career path reflected his drive and determination. He worked for Delta Air Lines before finding success in real estate. He started with Reed and Son Realty and then started Metroplex Land Investments with two of his lifelong friends, Phil Parker and Larry Lee. After moving to Stuttgart, Arkansas (1977-1984), Donny was the co-owner of Kaker Jones Lincoln Mercury. Shortly after the return to Grapevine, he became the founder and CEO of MedData Services, which he built into a respected and successful company.
Throughout his life, whether living in TX, AR, or FL, he generously gave his time to the communities. He served in civic clubs, local organizations, and in his younger years took an active role in his churches. Donny’s generosity was also evident in helping anyone he knew who was in need. He gave selflessly and quietly without needing recognition. He also loved supporting causes dear to his heart, including Wounded Warriors and Tunnel to Towers.
Donny’s hobbies reflected his love for the outdoors and the finer joys of life—restoring classic cars, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending cherished time at his ranch in Dodd City. His greatest happiness, however, came from his family—watching his grandchildren play sports, gathering with friends, and treasuring the handmade notes and cards from his granddaughter, Anniston.
In his final months, he found joy in seeing his family gather and visit throughout the week and every weekend. It was the life he had long worked for, surrounded by the love and support of his family he was so deeply proud of.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Brooks Kaker; son Russell Kaker and wife Kristi Kaker; daughter Regina Kaker Sobecki and husband Matt Sobecki; grandchildren Cole Kaker and wife Casey Kaker, Hayden Sobecki, Clayton Sobecki, Anniston Sobecki, Kaitlyn Stark and husband John Stark; aunt Janis Kaker; cousins Tressa Kaker Parson, John Kaker, and Carl Kaker; and brother-in-law Allen Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eunice Kaker, brothers Kenny Kaker and Bill Kaker, sister Linda Kaker Peterson, and cousin Eldonna Kaker Margerum.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to his loving caregivers, Jessica Mendoza and Sophiah Chege, for their compassion and dedication.
