Beth was born on August 26, 1955 in Liloan, Cebu, Philippines to David and Jovita Sugarol, the first of ten children. After graduating from Holy Child High School, she went on to receive a degree in nursing from Cebu Medical Center - College of Nursing in 1977 and later earned her Bachelor’s of Science at Southwestern University - College of Nursing the following year. Beth began her career as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cebu City.
On August 7, 1982 she married her husband, Angelito Reyes and together in 1983, they immigrated to New York City. This is where she began her profession as a psychiatric nurse at Harlem Medical Center. While in New York, they had two daughters Anjelica Reyes and Nicole Reyes. As a family, they moved to Grapevine, Texas in the summer of 1997. Beth continued her passion for psychiatry and mental health working at Valley Hope, Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth, and later ending her career at Green Oaks – Medical City Dallas as a highly decorated and skilled registered psychiatric nurse.
Beth was devoted to her family. She was married to her husband for 38 loving years and dedicated to her daughters. Her family remembers her as the ultimate ”Supermom”. Despite working full time, she kept a clean home and always managed to cook a delicious Filipino dinner every night. Being the oldest of ten siblings, she generously financed her siblings’ education in the Philippines. From artists like Sade or Tears for Fears, she was always accompanied by music. She was the joy of the dance floor at every party. Every outfit of hers was stylish, with carefully coordinated shoes and accessories. She believed in looking your best while being the best person you can be. Beth had a kind, honest, and compassionate soul. She was always willing to help strangers and made new friends wherever life took her. She was a social butterfly and was easily loved by all her family and friends. She was pious, a devout Catholic who kept God close to her heart.
Beth was preceded in death by her father and mother, David Sugarol and Jovita Vega Sugarol. She is survived by her husband Angelito Reyes, her two daughters, Anjelica Reyes and Nicole Reyes. Further survived by her siblings: Edgar Sugarol, Edna S. Handel, Estela S. Collantes, Editha S. Chua, Ernesto Sugarol, David Sugarol Jr., Jovita S. Arcelo, Ellen S. Pilapil, Elton Sugarol and along with their spouses. She is further survived by her numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Beth are invited to visit, share memories, prayers, and stories of her life at J. E. Foust and Son Funeral Home on 523 S Main St. Grapevine, TX 76051. Dates and times are Friday, April 17, 2020 1:00 – 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Check with family for times available to arrive. The burial will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, Texas.
