Florence Frohman of Bedford, TX passed away May 14, 2020. She was born on June 3, 1933 in Pearl River, NY. Florence was in the gifted program in High School and finished at age 16. She was an excellent field hockey player. She went on to get her Bachelor's and Master's in Education from Alfred University in New York. She taught math for a number of years, helping to put her husband Boris through Northwestern Medical School in Chicago. After having 4 sons in 6 years she retired from her beloved career of teaching Math. Florence has students all over the Lombard, Illinois and Shreveport, Louisiana geographies that have contacted her over the years, to thank her for making a difference in their lives, by showing them how to love math and incorporate it into their daily living. Florence was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing often. Other hobbies included gardening, arts and crafts, bridge, cross-stiching and needle point. She played a mean game of tennis doubles and made many friends at Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club in Shreveport, LA. Cherishing her memory are her husband of 65 years, Dr. Boris Frohman of Bedford, TX ; son Mark Frohman of Grapevine, TX; Bradley Frohman of Richmond, Va.; and Matthew Frohman of Austin, TX.; Grandchildren are Andrew and Gail Frohman of Dallas, TX; Nathan and Alison Frohman of North Richland Hills, TX; Phillip Frohman of Carrollton, TX; Anna Frohman of Haltom City, TX.; Great Granddaughter Blair McKenzie Frohman of North Richland Hills, TX. Mrs. Frohman (still have to keep it so) was one of a handful of teachers who inspired me. I remember and admire her passion for her subject, her energy in teaching, her sense of humor which kept it from being too dry. I learned to love math in her class, and pursued it until Calculus wrestled me to the ground. Another gift from her class was meeting her son, Mark, with whom I was close from 5th grade through high school. I see her competitive drive reflected in her sons. I bless her name and legacy; I’m thankful for the habits she formed in us, her students!
