Born November 11, 1924, in Franklin, Ohio, Gerri was the third daughter of 10 children born to the late Leonard & Gertrude Hawthorne.
Gerri graduated from Dayton Cooperative High School in the class of 1942.
A 75-year member of the German Beneficial Union (GBU) of Pittsburgh, Gerri served as the District 815 GBU President in Dayton, Ohio.
Her experiences and hardships growing up in a large family, especially during the Depression and WWII, greatly influenced how she lived her life. She was frugal, had simple tastes, and taught all of her children to always live within their means.
She was a pioneer, balancing the responsibilities of a young family with a varied professional career spanning 25 years.
In retirement, she & Fred enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and bingo, traveling, singing in the choir, and learning to play the organ and the guitar.
Gerri enjoyed her seven years living at St Joseph Village and the many friendships she made there.
She is survived by her four children and their families: Bruce Ebert (Columbus, OH), Connie Cron (Valrico, FL), Rebecca Koslick (Wellington, FL), and Daniel Ebert (Coppell, TX). Gerri had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Geraldine will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at CHRISTUS St. Joseph Village, 1201 E Sandy Lake Rd, Coppell, TX 75019.
