

Howard was born on September 11, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, to Howard C. Shinn and Sandrea S. Shinn. From an early age, he carried a lively spirit that would follow him throughout his life, often showing itself through his quick wit and legendary sense of humor.
A proud veteran, Howard served over five years in the United States Navy, including time aboard the USS New Orleans, stationed out of San Diego, California. His time in service reflected his dedication, resilience, and deep love for his country.
Following his military service, Howard built a successful career as the owner of his own home improvement business. He took great pride in his work, leaving behind not just completed projects, but lasting impressions on those he worked with.
Howard was a devoted sports fan with a special love for football. He once dreamed of becoming a field goal kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, and he remained a loyal supporter throughout his life. He also cheered passionately for the Texas Longhorns, never missing a chance to celebrate a big play or debate a tough call.
Known best by those who loved him, Howard was a true prankster at heart. His practical jokes, playful teasing, and ability to bring laughter into any room were hallmarks of his personality. He had a gift for lightening heavy moments and turning ordinary days into memorable ones.
Howard will be remembered for his humor, his service, his hardworking nature, and the joy he brought to others. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and stories that will be told for years to come.
A Memorial Service will be held at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 S Main ST, Grapevine, TX 76051, on April 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Reception to follow.
