

Irene C. Fabian, born on October 1, 1927 in Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at the age of 98. She was the daughter of Lucy and Joseph Calabro, also of Hartford. Her husband of 62 years, John F. Fabian III, (“Jack“), predeceased her on March 18, 2012. She leaves behind her children, John Fabian IV, and wife Pamela of New Jersey, LuAnne Stone and husband Ray of Florida, Suellyn Martin of Texas, and Robert Fabian and wife Laura of Texas, as well as six grandchildren, six step grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Irene grew up in Hartford, attended Weaver High School, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Central Connecticut State College. She taught elementary school in Newington, Connecticut, and was a teacher for over 20 years. She retired with Jack to Florida and traveled extensively. In between, they spent summers on Cape Cod.
Irene loved watching sports, playing golf, fishing, knitting and crocheting, dancing, singing and playing the tuba. She also sang with the Naples Chapter of Sweet Adeline’s. She was devoted to her Baptist faith.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Irene‘s friends at Christus St. Joseph Village, The Pearl Senior Living Center, The Harris Hospice Care Team and Gentle Breeze Residential Homecare. A special thanks to all the caregivers for sharing their lives with her. Irene’s zest for life will certainly be missed.
There will be a private family celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene‘s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
