

Jack Saunders Petty passed away on June 10, 2026 at the age of 93 in Grapevine TX. Born in San Marcos TX on December 27 in 1932, Jack was the youngest son of Ernest Jennings Petty and Rose Virginia Saunders.
Jack graduated from San Marco High School in 1948.
Jack was a Korean War Veteran serving with the 1st Calvary Division. He enlisted in the US Army in 1951 as a Private E-1, was appointed Sgt(T) in 1953 and discharged in February 1954. Jack was awarded Korean Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), and National Defense Service Medal. His father was a veteran of WWI; his grandfather George Alexander Petty and great grandfather James Petty were Confederate Civil War veterans. Jack’s twin older brothers Lloyd and Floyd both achieved the rank of Colonel and were veterans of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Jack was proud of his military service as well as his family history.
After returning from the war in Korea, Jack studied physics at the University of Houston. In December of 1954 he married Nancy Erickson and together they had four sons. In 1977 he married Nancy Ripslinger and took on her two more children.
Jack was a cowboy. His family owned several horses as well as a feed store in Leage City TX. Along with a friend that was a veterinarian, they developed a horse supplement product trademarked Ten Star. He was on a relay team that competed in events such as the 1978 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo held at the Astrodome, riding his mare named Ten Star.
Jack had a sharp mind and applied himself first to sales and then to business management. He was regional vice president of sales for Computer Automation, selling computer systems into NASA and NFL stadiums. Together with his friends in business, he founded computer company TBL, video tape vending/rental machine company Vmart, as well as video production company Ten Star Productions. The success of these companies made well known for his business acumen. He stayed active with investments include several ‘deals’ with his son Bob.
As a former resident of Southlake, Jack was a Carroll Dragon Band booster in the 1980’s and was the first president of Southlake Chamber of Commerce.
Jack is preceded in death by his two brothers, sons Mike, Mark, and Steve. Survived by his wife of 49 years Nancy, son Bob Petty, step son Tim Philipp, step daughter Tiffany Whitefield, granddaughters Amber Lehman, Tia McBrien, and Destiny Petty, grandsons James Michael Lehman, Philip Petty, Ryan Morgan, great grandchildren Easton Petty, Jackson James Lehman, Brianna McBrian and Blakely McBrien, nephews David Petty, Glenn Petty and Joel Petty nieces Lynda Hurley, Laura Fischer, and Gail Williams.
Viewing and Funeral services will be held at JE Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 S Main ST, Grapevine, TX 76051 on Wednesday June 24th starting at 2pm.
Jack will be buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 MOUNTAIN CREEK PKWY, DALLAS, TX 75211 at 9:30am on Thursday June 25th.
